Terms of use

Version 2 · published 1 October 2026

1. WHO WE ARE AND ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS

Mapomuden ("Mapomuden", "we", "us", "our") operates an online marketplace and telehealth platform that connects patients with verified herbal medicine, traditional medicine, and allied-health practitioners, clinics and pharmacies in Ghana, available at mapomuden.com.

By creating an account or using any part of the platform, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. If you are using the platform on behalf of a clinic, organisation, or practice, you confirm you have the authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. ELIGIBILITY

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. A parent or legal guardian may create and manage a patient profile on behalf of a minor or a dependant in their care, and is responsible for that profile's use.

3. WHAT THE PLATFORM IS — AND IS NOT

Mapomuden is a marketplace and communication tool. We help patients find, book, pay for, and communicate with independent healthcare practitioners, and we help practitioners manage their own patients, schedule, and payments. Mapomuden does not itself practise medicine, does not employ the practitioners listed on the platform, and is not a party to the clinical relationship between a patient and a practitioner.

Mapomuden is not for medical emergencies. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital immediately. Do not use the platform's messaging, booking, or Symptom Check features in place of emergency care.

The Symptom Check feature is an informational tool only. It does not diagnose any condition and is not a substitute for assessment by a qualified practitioner.

4. ACCOUNTS

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. You may hold both a patient and a provider profile on the same account where the platform supports this.

5. PRACTITIONERS AND PROVIDERS

Practitioners who list services on Mapomuden are independent professionals or businesses, not employees or agents of Mapomuden. Each practitioner is solely responsible for: holding any licence, registration, or qualification required to lawfully provide their services; the clinical and professional conduct of their practice; and the accuracy of the specialties, credentials, and services they list.

Mapomuden reviews practitioner-submitted documents as part of a verification step before a profile is marked verified, but this review does not constitute Mapomuden's endorsement, guarantee, or confirmation of any practitioner's qualifications, and does not make Mapomuden responsible for the care a practitioner provides.

6. BOOKING, PAYMENTS, AND REFUNDS

When you book a paid appointment, your payment is collected and held until the appointment has taken place, then released to the practitioner, less Mapomuden's platform commission. Payments are processed either through our payment partner (by card or mobile money) or, where offered, by transferring directly to Mapomuden's published mobile money number and submitting the transaction reference for manual confirmation by our finance team. A payment submitted for manual confirmation is not treated as received until confirmed; if it is rejected, you may submit it again or use another payment method.

Cancellation, rescheduling, and refund terms (including any time limits for a full refund) are shown to you at the time of booking and are governed by the cancellation policy in effect for that appointment. Refunds, where due, are processed back through the platform and may take time to reflect depending on your payment method.

7. ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree not to: use the platform for any unlawful purpose; impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity; upload false, fraudulent, or misleading credentials or identity documents; harass, threaten, or abuse another user; attempt to circumvent the platform's payment, verification, or security systems; or use automated means to access or scrape the platform without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, poses a safety risk to other users, or engages in fraud.

8. REVIEWS AND CONTENT YOU SUBMIT

If you submit a review, question, answer, or other content, you confirm it is your own genuine experience or question, is not defamatory or abusive, and you grant Mapomuden the right to display it on the platform. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Mapomuden name, logo, and platform software are owned by Mapomuden or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the platform without our written permission. You retain ownership of content you submit, subject to the licence you grant us in section 8.

10. DISCLAIMERS

The platform is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times, or that any practitioner will be available, suitable, or successful in treating any condition. Any health information made available through the platform (including the Medicine Hub, blog, Q&A, or Symptom Check) is for general informational purposes only and is not a substitute for individualised advice from a qualified practitioner.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by Ghanaian law, Mapomuden is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, or for the acts or omissions of any independent practitioner, clinic, or pharmacy listed on it. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by Mapomuden's own negligence.

12. TERMINATION

You may close your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or close an account for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, or as required by law. Some records (including clinical and financial records) are retained after account closure as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by law.

13. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms from time to time. A new version is published with a new version number and effective date, and continuing to use the platform after a new version takes effect means you accept it. Material changes will be flagged where required by law.

14. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ghana.
