How to wash your hands properly
Washing hands is one of the most effective ways to prevent many infections, including diarrhoea and colds.
- Wet your hands with clean water and apply soap.
- Rub palms, backs of hands, between fingers, thumbs and under nails for at least 20 seconds.
- Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth or air dry.
Wash before eating or preparing food, after using the toilet or changing a nappy, after coughing or sneezing into your hands, and after caring for someone who is unwell.
